The 2016 season is upon us and what a relief it is. The waiting is just about over and our boredom will soon subside. Here we are standing at the threshold of a new season and the Packers will have new blood starting at fullback. I won’t mince any words here, I’ve been waiting for this. Aaron Ripkowski is slated to take over for John Kuhn and I’m probably more excited about it than I should be.
Kuhn will be missed amongst fans and his old teammates. Number 30 served the Packers well for the last eight years and I appreciate his time here, however, I cannot help but be excited to see Aaron Ripkowski. The Ripper will come in with fresh young legs and a punishing style that will demand respect in short yardage. Fans around the league will take notice of the new, blocking, rushing and catching sledgehammer the Packers will be wielding in 2016.
Packers fans got a glimpse of the Ripper’s fury last season and it’s as addictive as crack. Legal, punishing hits are missed by fans and even just a few of them will make people take notice.
Packers fans should expect the team’s success rate in short yardage to go up this year. The number of times that we saw Kuhn get the ball and fail in these situations was maddening. Ripkowski will be more explosive and violent than Kuhn ever was. It’s that violence that fans around the league will start to notice.
Everyone loves a violent, punishing fullback. When the time comes to vote, there will only be one choice in the NFC. That will be Mr. Aaron Ripkowski. As you wait these last few days for training camp to start, watch these highlights of the Ripper doing his thing.
